More than half of the voters in the constituency live in Royal Leamington Spa, despite it being second in the naming order. It is where we first lived when we came to the area. My wife and I met at the University of Warwick and first lived together in Leamington. We had our first date in Momenti on Regent’s Place and have lived on Bath Street, Leam Terrace and St Mary’s Road over the years. We moved out to Warwick earlier this year.
Leamington is beautiful town with its wonderful parks, regency architecture and thriving town centre, but there is work to do. We need to address air quality throughout the town, especially in Old Town and along the Parade, and we need to ensure that our high street continues to thrive. The solutions are linked: with partnership working across our councils, the LEP and local businesses such as National Grid, we need to electrify our transport and provide clean ways of getting into town. I was delighted to see Leamington get shortlisted for Future High Street Fund on a bid concentrating on way-finding and bringing our green spaces and waterways into the town. This will drive footfall in a much greener way.
