It was a pleasure to attend the Air Ambulances UK Parliamentary Reception and meet with Amanda McLean and the team from Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
We discussed the vital work they do across our region, as well as the importance of raising awareness of CPR. Amanda highlighted that women are less likely to receive bystander CPR during a cardiac arrest, often because people hesitate to act. That has to change. Early CPR saves lives and everyone should feel confident stepping forward to help, regardless of who needs it.
We also discussed the importance of hospital helipad provision. Thames Valley is fortunate to be well served in this regard, helping ensure patients can receive critical care as quickly as possible.
Thank you to Amanda and the team for all they do to save lives across our communities.
