I have always been clear: with Heathrow, we need a better neighbour, not a bigger neighbour.
We have secured some important progress, including the move towards easterly alternation to help share aircraft noise more fairly but the proposed expansion is not just a third runway. It also means new terminals, hotels, car parks and major infrastructure on a huge scale. In fact, it is bigger than building another Gatwick alongside Heathrow.
Standing outside Pippins School, it is impossible to ignore what is at stake. This much-loved school is set to be relocated, while constituents in Colnbrook and Poyle have already started receiving compulsory purchase notices with little warning.
I will continue working with community groups and Heathrow to ensure local voices are heard and to fight for the best possible outcome for everyone affected
