Jack meets Daniel owner to discuss future of high street

Daniel Department Store is an iconic store in Windsor, with a reputation for quality and value since 1901. It even holds a royal warrant, which is a source of pride for current chairman Peter Daniel, grandson of the original founder.

Jack Rankin recently met Peter and his granddaughter Natasha, who is Head of Marketing for the family-run business, to discuss some of the challenges they face.

"The new Liberal Democrat council has significantly increased parking charges across Windsor and Eton at a time when our retail base is facing intense competition from online retailers and out of town shopping centres," said Jack.

"Business rates are also a problem. Being based on property prices they disproportionately impacts town centre businesses. I am lobbying the Chancellor for reform and to create a more level the playing field. Ultimately, we must all play our part. The best way to protect our high street is by using it."

As your MP, Jack's priority will be to ensure high street treasures like Daniel survive and prosper for years to come.
